Hunger strike against missile shield
RADAR PROTEST SPREADS TO ALL OF EUROPE
On Tuesday May 13, Jan Tamas, spokesperson of Czech movement against US military base will start a hunger strike together with another activist, Jan Bednar. Twenty European cities - Paris, Madrid, Rome, Athens, Berlin, Brussels, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Budapest, Zurich, Toulouse, Malaga, Porto, Koln, Milan, Trieste and Turin will join the protest.
"
We have tried everything, but our government will
not listen and continues to ignore the fact that 70% of Czechs are against the
installation of a USA radar base, part of the National Defense System, in their
country," stated Jan Tamas. "This means a silent US
military occupation of the Czech Republic is about to take place. We ask
our friends in other countries to support our struggle, since this is a
European issue, not a local one."
Jan Tamas and Jan Bednar will carry out their protest in a
room in the center of Prague.
A Press Conference in English will take place at noon
on May 13th at Bělehradská 12/98 v Praze.
