May 2008In September the ESF, European Social Forum, will be take place in Malmö, Sweden.
As a part of the ESF, the European Peace Action will gather peace organisations together to develop common strategies and campaigns, with a focus on nonviolent direct action and grassroots organising.
Platform for European Peace Action
- The European Peace Action wants to create a Europe working together in peaceful solidarity through nonviolent direct action and popular mobilisation.
- The European Peace Action aims to do this by strengthening the cooperation between European peace groups to more efficiently share information and coordinate campaigns.
- The European Peace Action focuses on resisting NATO and the Militarisation of the EU, the Globalisation of Militarism, Nuclear Weapons and the Militarisation of Space.
Programme
European Peace Actions wants to raise the profile for peace groups, big and small, at the ESF. By having many organisations backing the event, we have a greater chance at getting the programme we want through the ESF planning process.
Please get in touch if your organisation want to contribute to the programme, and/or you want to become a supporting organisation. The deadline for the programme is the 31st May!
Please also let us know if your organisation wants to send a representative to the coordination meetings for the event.

Donations
Each session at the ESF costs between €50-€2000, depending on the size of the venue, including translators, microphones etc.
If you or your organisation have the possibility to give a donation, big or small, you are more than welcome.

Website
On http://europeanpeaceaction.org all new information about the forum will be posted. The website is also a resource were you can post news, videos and information about your group and your upcoming events.
We want the website to continue to be a resource for peace activists across Europe long after the forum in September.
